My Mentor & Backup Doula
Emily has been supporting families in Muskoka since 2017. She is based in Muskoka, she is a full-spectrum doula.
She is my mentor, I have shadowed her in multiple postpartum and prenatal visits, as well as supported births together.
I know first hand her expertise, that is why I trust her completely with the families I serve.
What is a full-spectrum doula?
A full-spectrum doula supports people through the whole range of experiences around pregnancy and baby, not just birth. That can include time before pregnancy, pregnancy itself, birth, life with a newborn, and also the harder experiences, like pregnancy loss or infant loss.
In simple terms, it means whatever your story is, you have someone to walk beside you with care and no judgment. Emily offers full-spectrum doula care, which is why she supports families through so many different chapters.
Why a Backup Plan Matters
If I can't be there, I'll call in a trained, caring doula to support you, subject to her availability.
Babies arrive on their own schedule.
Nobody can predict the day, or the hour, a baby will decide to come. Labour can begin at 3 a.m., on a holiday or while I'm supporting another family who's in labour. Sometimes, life happens too: an illness, an emergency or a sudden change in plans.
You'll know her before you need her.
It's not the same to have a stranger walk into your birth. You'll meet Emily ahead of time, so she's a familiar face. She'll already know your hopes, your worries and the way you like to be supported, so the care feels like a continuation, not a starting over.
It brings peace of mind.
When you know you're covered, you can relax and focus on what matters, which is getting ready to meet your baby. That calm is part of good support.
Two doulas, one community. Our commitment to you
Community over competition
We learn from each other, share what we know and refer families to whoever is the best fit for them.
Care for every chapter
You're at the centre
It's your body, your baby and your choices. However your story unfolds, you're met with kindness.
How We Make Sure You're Covered
If I'm ever unavailable when you go into labour, Emily steps in. You'll meet her before your birth, and she'll already know your birth preferences, so it feels like continuing your care, not starting over.
How my backup works
Emily and I have supported a birth together, and we share what we learn so every family receives thoughtful, up-to-date care. She has been a mentor to me, and I trust her completely with the families I serve.
We're a team
We'll arrange a short meeting or video call with Emily before your baby arrives. You can ask her questions, and she'll be a familiar face when it matters.

Questions You Might Have
It's normal to wonder how it all works. Here are the answers to the questions families ask most about Emily and my backup plan. If yours isn't here, just ask. I'm always happy to talk it through.
-
If I can't attend your birth, I'll contact Emily to step in. As with any on-call work, her availability depends on whether she's free at that moment, but I'll always work to make sure you have support.
-
It could be because I'm at another birth, I'm ill or there's an emergency. It doesn't happen often, but having a backup plan means you have another option when it does.
-
Yes. We can chat about it what arrange for a video call before your due date. That way, she's a familiar face, and she'll know your birth preferences.
-
Yes. Before your birth, I'll share your preferences with her, with your permission, so the care continues smoothly.
-
That's very unlikely, but if it happens, I'll do everything I can to help you find another doula.
-
No, backup support is included in all my packages.
-
That's completely fine. If you'd like to explore Emily's services, you can contact her directly, and I'm happy to answer any questions about how we work together, as I am actually her backup as well!

We share the same values, but we offer different services. I focus on birth and postpartum care, and Emily offers a wider range, including education and support through loss and fertility. Between us, we can support your whole journey.
